A secular arrangement of the St. Francis Prayer

Make me an instrument of peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
Grant that we may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we gain eternal peace.

Food for thought.......

"Organized religion is violent, irrational, intolerant, allied to racism, tribalism, and bigotry, invested in ignorance and hostile to free inquiry, contemptuous of women and coercive toward children, it is a plagiarism of a plagiarism, of a hearsay of a hearsay, of an illusion of an illusion..." ~Christopher Hitchens

Food for thought.......(A personal favorite)

"I give money for church organs in the hope the organ music will distract the congregation's attention from the rest of the service."  ~Andrew Carnegie

Food for thought......

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things.  But, for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.  ~Steven Weinberg

Eric Rasmussen playing "Passacaglia" by Buxtehude at Collegedale TN

An old college friend, Eric Rasmussen, playing an arrangement of "Eventide" by Raymond Haan

Personal thought of the day

I don't play for weddings and probably never will.  I find it to be unethical to play for weddings when there are people in our country who want to get married, but are denied this simple act of professing their love for someone due to the bigoted, spiteful opinions of others.  On a lighter side, it keeps me from having to waste time practicing all those tiresome pieces.

Food for thought......

I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.
